The High Frequency Effects on Multilayer Graphene Ribbon THz Resonators

Published in IEEE 87th ARFTG Microwave Measurement Conference, 2015

Graphene has been proved to be one of the promising candidate materials for high-frequency applications. The multilayer graphene ribbon (GR) based resonators are proposed and characterized in this work. The geometry- dependent resonant frequencies (f0) and unloaded Q-factors (Qu) of the GR-based resonators are investigated with the equivalent single conductor (ESC) model. It is found that by intercalation doping with AsF5, the graphene resonators can provide a high Qu of 80.6 at f0=793.1 GHz, superior to the copper and neutral graphene based ones.

Electron-Thermal Simulationn of Graphene Nanoribbon Interconnects

Published in IEEE AECS 2017 Conference, 2017

The electro-thermal simulation of graphene nanoribbon (GNR) interconnects is presented in this paper. The Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) is solved under the relaxation time approximation (RTA). The power density, which is obtained by the Boltzmann–Poisson approach, is used as the Joule-heating source in heat conduction equation to calculate the temperature profile along the GNR. The result is then sent back to the BTE for updating the distribution function. This process is iterated until self-consistency is achieved. Based on this method, the current-voltage characteristics of metallic GNRs with different lengths and bias conditions are investigated.
